Ivy, Alexis and Chloe love animals, and they wanted a way to help homeless animals. They decided to contact the New Albany Floyd County Animal Control and Shelter to see what supplies they needed most following the hurricanes. They created and passed out flyers, made posters, and decorated a donation box to collect items needed by the animal shelter following the hurricanes. Overall, they collected and donated 75 items!
Parents, We have a few reminders about the upcoming eLearning day. 1. Students were given a pink paper about eLearning Day for you to fill out. Please fill out and return the bottom portion of the paper to your child's teacher. 2. Students will not report to HES on Tuesday, November 7th. 3. On November 7th, students will be required to complete work that will be available electronically and/or paper copy. The work will be available online on November 7th and paper copies will be available for pick up at HES from 6:30 am- 4:00pm on Tuesday, November 7th. If you were unable to get the work on November 7th then a paper copy will be given out on November 8th at school. 4. To be counted present for eLearning day parents must "check-in". To check in means a parent must make contact with school. You can make contact in many different ways. You may email your child's teacher to let the teacher know that work was completed on November 7th. Parents may also call or send in a note to school to let teachers know work was completed during the 48 hour time frame (November 7-8). 5. Please make note: HES PTO meetings will be held after school on the first Wednesday of each month through this school year. Meetings are at 3:15. Enter through Door 3 at the front of the school and the office staff can send you in the right direction. School Spirit Day will also be the first Wednesday of the month! ! It will be our first school spirit day and our first PTO meeting of this school year! For School Spirit Day, kiddos can wear black and gold or any Hornet apparel! Go Hornets!!
Our first BOXTOP contest of the year. We hope you've been collecting your BOXTOPS all summer long! This contest will run from August 1-25. The winning grade level will receive a banana split party!!! It will be SO much fun!! Please remember to check the dates on your BOXTOPS to make sure they are not expired! We can't accept expired ones! Please glue or tape the BOXTOPS to the form that is sent home and send it back to school with your child! Congratulation to all of the 2nd grade on winning the Boxtop contest for August. All of 2nd grade had their winning banana split parties on Friday, September 1, 2017.
HES Students and Families, Welcome to Henryville Elementary School ! We look forward to an exciting and engaging 2017-18 school year. Our student enrollment has increased again this year and we welcome especially our new kindergartners and their families . Our teachers , assistants and staff are all prepared to serve you in educating your children and making the most of each students potential. We are very proud to announce that 99 % of our third grade students passed the State of Indiana IREAD test ! This basically means that all of our third grade students are reading at a minimum of the third grade level or above. We will always strive for high quality teaching and learning. Fifth and sixth graders at Henryville Elementary will be traveling to their science lesson on August 21. About 180 students are heading to Hopkinsville for a field trip to watch the total solar eclipse.
